Pride Winnipeg would like to announce that we will be postponing Fierté Canada Pride 2020. This comes after much consideration and consultation with our community partners, board and stakeholders. Pride Winnipeg wants to ensure the utmost safety of our community members both in Manitoba and those travelling from across Canada.
Pride Week, originally scheduled to take place the week of May 24th – 31st, will now take place the week of September 4th -13th with the Human Rights Conference taking place September 14, 15 and the morning of the 16th. In working with all our suppliers, vendors, sponsors, and stakeholders, Pride Winnipeg has concluded that it is in everyone’s best interest, and most importantly for the ongoing safety of all, that this postponement takes place.
Our Pride Flag raising will take place at City Hall on a date to be determined and this this will be the kickoff to all the events that normally follow.
From this point forward, Pride Winnipeg will be diligently working to produce our Fierté Canada Pride 2020 Festival on this new timeframe. Pride Winnipeg will keep the community and all our partners informed as this process takes place over the following weeks and months.
Please be assured that Pride Winnipeg will be constantly following announcements made by Health Canada and the guidelines that are enforced by the City of Winnipeg, and the Provincial and Federal Governments.
If the pandemic of COVID-19 continues, Pride Winnipeg will have no other choice than to cancel this year’s festivities to minimize spreading of the virus. Cancellation would be our final measure and we wish to assure our community and visitors that their health and safety is our top priority.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we move forward, together.
