PRIDE WINNIPEG COVID 19 UPDATE

To Our Community Partners and Friends,

Pride Winnipeg Festival Inc would like to share some of the following information regarding our current plans to increase health and safety measures for our upcoming Pride Festival and Human Rights Conference.

What We Are Doing
Preventative Measures for High Traffic Areas

  • Volunteers
    • Admin Trailers
      • Wipe down all surfaces regularly with sanitizing wipes
    • Offices
      • Wipe down all surfaces regularly with sanitizing wipes
    • Trucks / Vehicles
      • Wipe down steering wheel, gear shift, seats, etc. before and after each use with sanitizing wipes
    • Golf Carts
      • Wipe down steering wheel, gear shift, seats, etc. before and after each use with sanitizing wipes
    • 2-Way Radios & Mics
      • Wipe down radio before first use and upon return with sanitizing wipes. Mics will be placed in a Ziploc bag with user’s name for use the following day and wiped clean before returning to inventory.
    • Security Staff
      • Security staff will wear gloves at all times . Regularly wipe down any tables and chairs used with sanitizing wipes
  • Stage Area
    • Microphones
      • Wipe down before and after each use with sanitizing wipes
    • Stage Gear (Mic stands, DJ Equipment, Stair Rails)
      • Wipe down before and after each use with sanitizing wipes
    • Green Room (doors, bathrooms, cabinets, counters, sink etc.)
      • Wipe down before and after each use with sanitizing wipes
  • Public Areas
    • Bathrooms / Porta Potties
      • Cleaning staff must wear gloves at all times. Wipe down outside and inside door handles, spray Lysol on seat, side walls and on sanitizer dispenser inside bathroom every 30 to 60 minutes
      • Sanitizer dispensers in each bathroom (keep filled at all times)
    • Bars
      • Regularly wipe down counters, tables, chairs, ice bins, cutting boards, counters and POS systems with sanitizing wipes
      • Bartenders will observe all hand washing procedures.
      • Keep ice bins and garnishes covered and away from the general public.
      • Use ice scoops.
    • Food Vendors
      • Wear gloves at all times and regularly change them.
      • Provide wrapped cutlery (recommended)
      • Keep all cooked or uncooked food covered and away from the general public.
      • Regularly wipe down tables, chairs and serving surfaces with sanitizing wipes.
    • Picnic Tables & Chairs
      • Regularly wiped down with sanitizing wipes every 30 minutes
    • Stage Railing
      • Regularly wipe down with sanitizing wipes
    • Sponsor Lounge
      • Regularly wipe down with sanitizing wipes
    • Specialty Areas (Beer Gardens, Canada Village, Kids Zone etc.)
      • Regularly wipe down railings, seating, tables and chairs with sanitizing wipes
  • Vendors / Exhibitor Activations
    • Data Capturing (iPads, pens, etc.)
      • Regularly wipe down with sanitizing wipes
    • Sampling (food or drink)
      • Regularly wipe down tables, chairs and serving surfaces with sanitizing wipes.
      • Keep ice covered and away from general public
      • Wear gloves and change regularly
      • Use ice scoops
    • Tables & Chairs
      • Regularly wipe down with sanitizing wipes
  • Providing wash stations throughout the festival for public use
  • Prevention Signage (multi-lingual)
    • We will provide signage in multiple languages with instructions on ways to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and other viruses.

How you can help

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipes
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
    • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

Any person concerned about their exposure to or risk of having COVID-19 should first call Health Links– Info Sante at 204-788-8200 or 1-888-315-9257 (toll-free) to ensure they receive medical advice appropriate to their specific health concerns.

Starting March 12, individuals in Winnipeg directed by Health Links–Info Sante to be tested for COVID-19 will be asked to visit a community screening location. The first two community screening locations will open today, at Access Winnipeg West (at 280 Booth Dr.) and Access Fort Garry (135 Plaza Dr.).

Screening will be available at these locations from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on weekdays and until 4 p.m. on weekends. Those who require screening after hours will still be directed to urgent care sites and emergency departments. In addition to screening, these centres remain open for regularly scheduled
clinic activities.

People living outside Winnipeg who are concerned about their exposure to or risk of having COVID-19 should call Health Links–Info Santé at 204-788-8200 or 1-888-315-9257 (toll-free) for further information.
