PRIDE WINNIPEG ANNOUNCES JUSTIN FERNANDES AS NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR
Winnipeg, MB – April 15, 2026, Pride Winnipeg is pleased to announce the appointment of Justin Fernandes (he/him) as its new Managing Director, marking an exciting new chapter for the organization as it continues to champion inclusion, celebration, advocacy, and community connection across Winnipeg and Manitoba.
Justin Fernandes brings a strong commitment to community leadership, collaboration, and equity-driven impact. As Managing Director, he will help guide Pride Winnipeg’s strategic vision, strengthen community partnerships, and support the continued growth of programming that uplifts and celebrates 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
“We are thrilled to welcome Justin Fernandes as Pride Winnipeg’s new Managing Director,” said Barry Karlenzig, President of Pride Winnipeg. “Justin brings passion, leadership, and a deep commitment to community that aligns strongly with Pride Winnipeg’s mission and vision. He has been a valued member of the team in various roles for many years, and we are excited for the future and the energy he brings to this role.”
In his new role, Fernandes will oversee organizational operations, support the planning and delivery of Pride Winnipeg initiatives and events, and work closely with the board executive, volunteers, sponsors, and community stakeholders to ensure Pride Winnipeg continues to be a vibrant and inclusive force in the region. This new role will allow Pride Winnipeg to grow and expand its year-round operations with paid staff and balance the hours of our volunteer board and volunteer executive team. Long term planning will have Justin move up to Executive director in the coming months and up to a full time Executive director by the end of 2027

I can’t wait to continue that work to create sparks of queer joy and visibility for our community and create spaces and events where folks can be their full true selves – creating Pride all year round!” said Justin Fernandes. “
