They are there to keep you safe.

  • Please listen to the M.C. at the Rally before the parade for any additional information regarding Parade directions, instructions, and safety.
  • The parade is generally restricted to a single lane of traffic, allowing police or emergency vehicles to move freely next to the parade.
  • DO NOT throw anything to onlookers. If you wish to give away treats to the crowd, please hand them out individually.
  • DO NOT give out condoms during Rally and Parade. It has created previous litter issues.
  • Please help us keep the site clean by using trash, recycling and composting bins.
  • Protestors have a right to be present on the parade route, just as we do. If, however, you feel harassed or threatened, speak to a marshal, police officer, or to the on-site security. DO NOT confront protestors on your own.
  • During the Parade, make noise, wave to onlookers, and have fun!

2020 Canada Pride Logo

canada pride logo 2020

But what is the meaning behind the 2020 Canada Pride logo?

Colour
Rainbow to identify with the sexual, gender, and relationship diverse community. The rainbow palette is the same as Pride Winnipeg’s to give it a nod as the hosts of the Canada Pride Festival.

Why the Circle?

  • Circles are continuous, unified, so it goes with a feeling of being all together/one/a whole unit
  • You will note that the circle contains what looks like puzzle pieces to represent the different pieces of the community and the importance of unity in order to remain whole (i.e. the sum is greater than the parts)
  • All of the gender symbols have a circle, and so being representative of all identities
